Brazilian Black Friday

In the first place, in the United States, Black Friday basically represents the date which starts the Christmas shopping season, on the fourth Friday of November, it means after Thanksgiving Day. Because of that, many types of shopkeepers offer expressive discounts, to encourage people to buy even more.

Inspired by this tradition, the first Brazilian Black Friday happened in 2010, totally online. Thenceforward, the event grew over the years, taking place not only on e-commerces but also in physical stores, markets, service providers and other kinds of trades, like in gastronomy. In Brazil, it is common that shopkeepers extend the period of sales during a week or a month, called Black Week and Black November, respectively. However, it’s necessary to be careful with shoppings, because some traders aren’t honest and raise the price before Black Friday to simulate real discounts.

Generally, I like Black Friday and I’ve already done good shopping, also this year. I usually buy goods and services, especially things from my routine or something that is on my wishlist. My most uncommon shoppings involves wedding suppliers. I got married last year and I got good discounts in two Black Friday editions, paying for the groom's suit, bride’s shoes, drinks bar, candies, personalized flip-flops and photos cabin, for example. Considering that planning a wedding party is expensive and stressful, my advice for all brides is: search for good opportunities on Black Friday.
