FIFA World Cup 2022

The FIFA World Cup 2022 took place in Qatar and, in a few words, this edition was considered pioneer and unexpected in many aspects, especially because of the cultural and regional differences.

Originally, it was the first time that a soccer championship happened in the Middle East. So, over the high temperatures in Qatar in the middle of the year, the traditional period for World Cups, this edition was disputed between November and December, when it has soft weather. Moreover, the alcoholic beverages sales were forbidden inside and near the stadiums, with some strict exceptions. Fortunately, fans kept the enthusiasm watching the matches being sober.

Another key point was the development of Morocco. It was the first time that an African’s selection reached the semifinals of the World Cup. Due to the fourth position, its goalkeeper is considered a hero for defending many penalties.

Although Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals, and hasn't conquered the six-time championship, most of the Brazilian people were rooting for Argentina and celebrated with the fierce victory, against France, in the final. At least, after 20 years the World Cup cup returned to South America and the historical rivalry with our neighboring country was forgotten. On the whole, Messi is almost finishing his career and acquired the last feat that was missing, besides the title of the best soccer player in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
